Mother, son death: Kolar police wait for report to act against cop

Bengaluru, 08 Mar 2018 [Fik/News Sources]: The Kolar police are awaiting report from their Bengaluru counterparts before taking disciplinary action against district police inspector Chandrappa, who is accused of abetting the suicide of a man and his mother at Kadugodi here.

Abdul Ahad, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Whitefield division, said that the inspector has been remanded in 14 days’ judicial custody. “The Whitefield division police will write to their Kolar counterparts recommending that he be suspended,” said Ahad.

Sundaramma and her son Mounesh reportedly jumped from an apartment at Belathur in Kadugodi on Tuesday. The apartment was owned by Chandrappa, an inspector working with Special Branch in Kolar. Chandrappa had allegedly called the two to the city to question them over the disappearance of his sister, with whom Mounesh had eloped barely a month ago. Though he traced her back, she had been missing for the past week.

Police officials said that while prima facie it appears that the inspector has been accused of mentally harassing the victims, there is no evidence of physical harassment.
